簡要規則描述：
（1）探明地塊范圍內的各類地下管線，包括埋設于地下的給水、排水（雨、污、合流）、燃氣、電力、通訊、熱力、工業管道等市政和公用管線及鐵路、民航、軍用等其它專用管線，應查明地下管線的類型、平面位置、埋深及管頂(底)標高的變化、管徑或根數、材質等。
（2）對地塊范圍內的架空管線（如電力、通訊等）的電壓、根數進行調查、記錄，并對懸高進行測量。
（3）如現場發現疑似地下障礙物（如建筑物基礎、地下構筑物、超大/超深管線等），需及時告知業主單位。
（4）編制形成管線探測成果報告，包含管線成果圖、管線點成果表、管線數量統計表等。
